Sheboygan Master Gardener Conference

The Sheboygan County Master Gardener Volunteers are hosting the 2010 statewide Wisconsin Master Gardener Conference. It will be held on Friday, July 23 and Saturday, 24, 2010, on the UW-Sheboygan Campus in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Listen to a myriad of garden expert speakers, stroll through exhibitors hall displays, enjoy silent auction bidding and tour local gardens. You do not have to be a Master Gardener to attend. However, registration is required.

Schedule

• A Pre-Conference Tour will be held on Friday, July 23. We will take you to the Christopher Farm and Gardens, about two miles north of Sheboygan on the shores of Lake Michigan. This 450-acre farm currently has 50 acres dedicated to a large variety of display gardens, including a kitchen garden complete with more than 50 varieties of vegetables, a cutting garden, an Asian garden, an ornamental grass garden and an evergreen garden to mention just a few! There is also an apple orchard, bee hives, koi ponds, waterfalls and even a railroad! Bus transportation and lunch is included in this tour.

• A traditional Sheboygan County Brat Fry is planned for your enjoyment on Friday evening and you will also have an opportunity to leisurely stroll through the Bookworm Gardens, a work in progress with two acres of fantasy gardens based on children’s literature. This garden is adjacent to the UW-Sheboygan Campus and is within walking distance. Also on Friday evening, Ray Rogers will speak on designing container plantings.

• Saturday’s schedule begins with another inspiring presentation by Ray Rogers on the up-to-date use of coleus in your garden. The conference schedule for the rest of the day includes a variety of great topics presented by talented and knowledgeable speakers. Many of our speakers are from Sheboygan County. So, please Come Garden With Us!

You don't have to be a Master Gardener to attend. Early registrations, postmarked by May 1, 2010, will receive an early registration discount of $10! We look forward to sharing our passion for gardening with you.
